Panel Advises College-Bound Student Athletes

Glen Cove Schools' Athletic Department and Booster Club organized the info session.

A special workshop was held this week for student athletes who want to continue playing sports in college.

The workshop was run by Pat Grecco, a member of the Long Island Junior Soccer League’s Hall of Fame. Grecco helps young athletes find the schools best suited for them. Her guidance has assisted numerous students in receiving full scholarships, the district said.

Grecco led a panel of student athletes and college coaches in explaining the differences between Division I, II and III college programs to parents in attendance.

Parents also learned about their role in the college search, and heard about scholarships, financial packaging and how to distinguish between the types of commitments to colleges that are available to students.

The panel also discussed what colleges look for and an academic overview with SAT/ACT updates.
