Tattoo Clue In Effort To ID 'Butchered' Body Found Off Red Hook

RED HOOK, BROOKLYN — Authorities are trying to identify a mangled body that was found floating in the waters off of Red Hook on Tuesday afternoon.
Police released the image above, showing the tattoo on the woman's body when it was found by the NYPD's Harbor Unit.
The man who found the body told the New York Post that the body was "butchered" and didn't have a head.

"It was brutal," the Carroll Gardens man told the Post. "The woman wasn’t just murdered — she was butchered."
The New York Daily News described the body as "badly decomposed."
