Penta Hosts First-Ever Limb Disassembly Day with Brooklyn Organization
Global Non-Profit Educates and Inspires the Next Generation of Orthotic and Prosthetic Providers

Penta Medical Recycling, a non-profit organization providing gently used and oftentimes new prostheses from the United States to international amputees in need, recently hosted their first ever Limb Disassembly Day in Brooklyn, NY.
Penta’s Limb Disassembly Day was held at the BK Game Lab in Park Slope, Brooklyn where they were joined by 12 Scouts and leaders from the Outdoor Service Guides of Brooklyn, a non-profit that offers youth scouting programs and leadership opportunities for all ages. More than 40 limbs were disassembled which generated over 150 components. These components will be paired with compatible prosthetic elements and matched to amputees worldwide, providing mobility to dozens of amputees globally.
Penta, along with industry professionals from Hanger Clinic, demonstrated how to properly handle, safely disassemble, and care for the prosthetics. Outdoor Service Guides were educated on the impact that their service would be contributing towards. With hundreds of thousands of functional but gently used prosthetics being replaced and discarded in the United States every year, Penta repurposes these limbs to provide care to amputees in countries as far as Vietnam and those as close to the United States as Mexico.

“Our first-ever Disassembly Day could not have been more of a success on so many fronts,” said Penta Founder and Executive Director, Henry Iseman. “From the support of the local Outdoor Service Guides Brooklyn Chapter to the support provided by Hanger Clinic, the day provided a platform for education, community service and awareness of the need for prosthetic limbs worldwide.”
Iseman added, “We are so grateful that our Global Mobility Ambassador, Robert Rodriguez was able to join us and share his inspirational stories.”

Rodriguez, a para-athlete, shared motivational stories about his life as an amputee and accolades including founding his speaking company, Limb Possible, and his leadership role at the nonprofit, Limb Kind Foundation. With a new focus on becoming a triathlete and qualifying for the 2024 paralympic team, Rodriguez continues to spread awareness about Penta’s mission and be an inspiration to the amputee community.
Iseman first saw the life-changing impact of prosthetic limbs while working with veterans of U.S. Explosive Ordnance Disposal units. Since its inception in 2016, Penta has grown to help 24 countries, partnering with 31 organizations and shipping over 7,000 components.
