Last Day to Vote for $550K in Improvements to Wyckoff Gardens and Gowanus Houses
As part of the city's participatory budgeting process.

GOWANUS, BROOKLYN — We’ve reached the end of 2016’s participatory budgeting vote week! Gowanus residents only have until the evening of Sunday, April 3, to vote to direct city funds toward a variety of neighborhood projects.
The list of projects you’re eligible to vote for depends on your City Council representative. If you live in Gowanus, you’re probably represented by either 38th District Councilman Brad Lander or 33rd District Councilman Stephen Levin. But if you’re not sure who your council member is, just use this online tool to figure it out.

- $550,000 for outdoor improvements at the Wyckoff Gardens and Gowanus Houses (Levin’s district)
- $400,000 to add street crossings to Hoyt Street between Butler Street and Degraw Street, near the Gowanus Houses (Levin’s district)
- $150,000 for mobile studios to be used by artists and community organizations throughout the neighborhood (Lander’s district)
You do not have to be a registered voter to participate, and anyone 14 and up can cast a ballot. Just bring your ID, a utility bill or some other form of documentation that states your address with you to the polls.
