Woman Found Dead Off Brooklyn Coast

BROOKLYN, NY — A woman was found dead Tuesday morning off of the Brooklyn coast near Red Hook and Sunset Park, police said.

Authorities found the body around 11:20 a.m. floating in the vicinity of the Gowanus Bay and Buttermilk Channel.

The NYPD's Harbor Unit recovered the woman and took her to Pier 44 in Red Hook, where she was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death, and an investigation is ongoing.
