Bronx Man Arrested for Shooting, Robbing Woman in Union Square
The man demanded cash from a woman carrying money to pay custodial employees, and when she fought back, he shot her in the leg. police said.

UNION SQUARE, NY — A man who shot a 55-year-old woman in the leg twice in Union Square on Saturday and ran off with $2,000 from her purse was arrested 48 hours later, police said. Police arrested Bronx man Leslie Jimenez, 60, in Union Square at 8:35 p.m. on Sunday.
Jimenez approached the woman at 12:24 a.m. Friday, flashed his gun and demanded she hit the ground, police said. He tried to grab her purse, and when she fought back, he shot her twice in the leg and ran off with $2,000. According to the New York Daily News, a black Mercedes picked Jimenez up and sped off.
The woman, whose name wasn't released, was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, the Daily News reported.

Jimenez faces charges of attempted murder, robbery, assault and reckless endangerment, and has six prior charges to his name, police said.
