Brooklyn Man Arrested For Stuyvesant Town Sex Attack: NYPD
Melvin Collins was charged with stalking, choking and groping a woman in her Avenue C building, police said.

GRAMERCY, NY — Cops cuffed and charged a Brooklyn man for groping a woman and then choking her when she refused his advances, police said.
Melvin Collins, 36, was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly attacking a 42-year-old woman in her Stuyvesant Town building just after 8 a.m Monday, authorities said.
Collins allegedly followed the victim into the elevator of the Avenue C near E. 20th Street building where he groped her body and tried to kiss her. The victim tried to run, but the man pulled her into a stairwell, climbed on top of her and choked her, police said.

When the victim screamed her attacker fled down the stairs and out of the building. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where she was treated for scratches on her neck, according to police.
Collins was hit with a slew of charges Tuesday including sexual abuse, criminal obstruction of breathing and forcible touching.
