Community Church of New York Named Sixth Principle Congregation

Unitarian Universalist Office at the United Nations Names CCNY 2020-2021 Sixth Principle Congregation

Manhattan, N.Y. Community Church of New York (CCNY) joins 20 outstanding Unitarian Universalist congregations in being named a 2020-2021 Sixth Principle Congregation. The prestigious award is presented annually by the Unitarian Universalist Office at the United Nations and honors congregations who demonstrate a strong commitment to the UU Sixth Principle goal of building a world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all.

Unitarian Universalist Office at the United Nations Director, Bruce Knotts, and International Engagement Associate, Allison Hess, shared a personalized message of congratulations to the CCNY congregation on the UU Office at the UN official YouTube channel. The video thanks CCNY for their generous financial support and exceptional efforts to bring the congregation together to learn about the United Nations engage in global justice initiatives.

“The Community Church of New York is honored to be recognized by the Unitarian Universalist Office at the United Nations for answering the call to defend human dignity and rights in the faith space,” said Reverend Peggy Clarke, Senior Minister of the Community Church of New York. “We are extremely proud to support the United Nations in building a world community based on UU values and look forward to continuing these advocacy efforts for years to come.”
