Cyclist Dies After Hitting Cab Door Opened Into Gramercy Bike Lane, Police Say
A 74-year-old woman died 10 days after she hit the door, police said.

GRAMERCY, NY — A cyclist who slammed into a cab door that was opened into a Gramercy bike lane has died, police said.
The cyclist, 74, died from her injuries on Sunday, 10 days after the accident in the eastbound bike lane of East 20th Street, between Broadway and Park Avenue South.
Police said the woman, Xin Kang Wang, was hurt May 4 when somebody inside a stopped taxi cab swung open the rear passenger door in her path. The cyclist crashed into it and fell in front of a second car. Officials were unable to say if that car hit her.

Wang, a Lower East Side resident, was taken to Bellevue Hospital where she later died.
Police said Thursday that no one has been arrested in regards to the death, but that the cab driver was ticketed for discharging a passenger in a bike lane. The cab driver, a 32-year-old man, and the driver of the second car both remained at the scene after the accident, according to authorities.
