Google's 'Geek Street Fair' Comes to Union Square

The technology company is partnering with lots of New York organizations to get kids inspired to join STEM fields.

UNION SQUARE, NY — It hasn't been uncool to be a geek for a while, and Google wants to further embrace the label. The technology company's Geek Street Fair is coming to Union Square on Thursday, Oct. 13 to inspire children to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, math, and computer science (STEM).

"Google is partnering with technology companies, community based organizations, museums, and content creators from across New York City who will provide fun activities," the event site says.

Local partners of the event include the American Museum of Natural History, the Bronx Academy for Software Engineering, Parsons, NYU Poly, NYU Tisch, GROWNYC, NYC First, and Cooper Union.

The fair goes from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. at Union Square Park, 201 Park Ave. South, and it's open to the public. Register just yourself, your child, or an after-school activity group here.
