NYPD Searches For Murray Hill Assailant: Police

Police are searching for a man who they say attacked a woman last month and repeatedly hit her over the head.

MURRAY HILL, NY — A woman was thrown to the ground and hit in the head repeatedly in Murray Hill last month, according to police.

The 37-year-old woman was walking past 620 2nd Ave. when a man "approached her from behind and hit her in the head with an unknown object," police said. The man then allegedly grabbed the woman's bag and pulled her to the ground. The man continued to "repeatedly hit the victim in the head with the unknown object," police said in a statement. He fled the area empty-handed.

The attack occurred on Feb. 26 at about 11:45 p.m., police said. Police did not release details on the woman's injuries, but said she was treated at a hospital.
