Person Killed Jumping in Front of L Train at Union Square: MTA
The MTA said a person jumped in front of a train and was killed on Wednesday afternoon.

UNION SQUARE, NY — A person was killed jumping in front of an L train at Union Square on Wednesday afternoon, according to the MTA.
The FDNY said they responded to a call at 4:03 p.m. for a person struck by a train. The MTA confirmed the person was pronounced dead on scene. They were not sure of the gender of the individual killed.
Power was shut down to the L line in Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon, causing service to be out from Eighth Avenue in Manhattan to Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, according to the MTA. Service was back up and running by 5 p.m. with residual delays.

Trains were not running in either direction under the East River. The L train was still running in Brooklyn, but terminating at Bedford Avenue. Customers were advised to use the A, C, J or M trains for service into the city.
The suicide was the second in two days in Lower Manhattan. A man was killed jumping in front of an A train at Fulton Street during Tuesday morning's commute.
