Podcast Host 'Taxstone' Charged With Murder In Irving Plaza Shooting

The podcast host and Twitter personality known as "Taxstone" has been charged with murder in a fatal 2016 shooting at a T.I. concert.

GRAMERCY, NY — The podcast host and Twitter personality known as "Taxstone" has been charged with murder in a fatal 2016 shooting at a T.I. concert, just weeks after he was convicted of federal weapons charges stemming from the same shooting.

A grand jury indicted the man, whose legal name is Daryl Campbell, with second-degree murder this week, more than a year after the fatal shooting at the Irving Plaza music venue, according to the Manhattan district attorney's office. Campbell is already facing up to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty last month to federal weapons charges.

The 31-year-old is now facing murder and assault charges from Manhattan prosecutors. According to prosecutors' version of events, Campbell fatally wounded Ronald McPhatter, a bodyguard, during a chaotic shooting at Irving Plaza just before the rapper T.I. was about to perform there last year. Authorities say that Campbelll got into a fight with rapper the Roland Collins while the two were in a VIP room before the concert. In the confrontation that followed, McPhatter was killed and Collins and two bystanders were wounded.

Last month, Campbell admitted that the gun that killed McPhatter was his, but until now prosecutors haven't charged anyone with firing the fatal shot. Patch was not immediately able to reach Campbell's attorney on Thursday afternoon.

Campbell pleaded not guilty on Thursday. He is next scheduled to appear in court in October.
