Subway Train Pins Man At Union Square Station, Police Say

The man had both legs crushed, according to a report.

UNION SQUARE, NY — A man was pinned between a subway train and the station platform on Sunday at Union Square, where he was seriously injured before emergency responders rescued him.

The man was struck by a northbound number 4 train inside the Union Square station, where he was trapped in the space between the moving train and the subway platform, police said. The 27-year-old man was seriously injured in the incident, and responding officers had to use a tourniquet to stem the bleeding from one of his legs, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. The man was injured at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

NYPD sources told the New York Daily News that the man suffered compound fractures to both legs. The 27-year-old was transported to Bellevue hospital for treatment, police said.
