Suspect Steals Woman's Purse From Roast Kitchen in Gramercy

The theft appears to be the second by the same person in the past few months, police said.

GRAMERCY, NY — A man made off with a woman's pocketbook from the Roast Kitchen in Gramercy and it's not the first time he's lifted a purse from a restaurant, police said.

The most recent incident happened on Sept. 13 at 1:05 p.m. when a woman was eating at Roast Kitchen at 870 Broadway, just a block north of Union Square, when the man grabbed the 25-year-old's bag off the floor and exited the restaurant, police said. The bag contained multiple credit cards, which makes the theft a grand larceny, according to police.

Police believe the same man was responsible for stealing a 27-year-old woman's purse from a chair inside Barilla Restaurant just steps from Radio City Music Hall on July 5. The back contained credit cards and the woman's passport, police said.
