Independent Candidates Sought For Great Neck Library Election
Independent candidates are invited to run for a seat on the Great Neck Public Library's board of trustees or nominating committee.
GREAT NECK, NY — The Great Neck Public Library system is seeking independent candidates to run for a seat on its board of trustees or nominating committee.
Elected officials are responsible for determining library policies, overseeing the budget, and hiring and evaluating the Director of the Library.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only 25 signatures from members of the Great Neck Library Association are required on the petition, which can be found here. Petitions must be received by Aug. 15, 2021, and be addressed to:

In order to vote or become a nominee, you must be:
- At least 18 years old
- A resident of the Great Neck School District
- Either a valid library cardholder (by Oct. 4, 2021, 5 p.m.) or a registered voter with the Nassau County Board of Elections
Eligible voters will elect two people to the library's board of trustees for a four-year term (January 2022 to January 2026) and two people to the nominating committee for a three-year term (January 2022 to January 2025).
Winners will take office at the Library Association Annual Reorganization meeting in January.
