The new pocket track will change train schedules on the Port Washington line. The MTA's original planned changes sparked controversy in Great Neck, Manhasset, Plandome and Port Washington—there would have been no express trains from those stations. After opposition from local leaders and residents, the MTA announced on Sept. 28 that the LIRR will keep three morning rush and three evening rush trains on the Port Washington branch.
