Man Struck Another Man In Face With Rock, Robbed Him In Great Neck: Police

The men, who are acquaintances, were involved in an argument that turned physical earlier this month, police say.

A man was arrested on Tuesday for hitting another man in the face with a rock and robbing him in Great Neck earlier this month, police say.

According to authorities, Walter Fuentes-Carranza, 21, of Little Neck, Queens, became involved in an argument with a 36-year-old acquaintance while they were in front of Gulf gas station, located at 31 Northern Boulevard, on Friday, Sept. 8 at 3:50 a.m. The argument escalated and Fuentes-Carranza struck the man in the face with a rock, took his cell phone and $500 and fled the scene, police say.

The 36-year-old man suffered a contusion to his face, but refused medial attention.

An investigation connected Fuentes-Carranza to the robbery, police say. He was arrested on Tuesday at his place of employment and charged with second-degree robbery. He will be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
