Bicyclist Struck By Car Suffers Serious Injuries In Melville

The crash occurred on Monday morning.

A bicyclist suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in Melville on Monday morning.

According to authorities, 47-year-old Massapequa resident Sean Spaulding was riding a bicycle southbound on New York Avenue, north of East Lyons Street, when he was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet traveling southbound at 4:25 a.m.

The Melville Rescue Squad responded and took Spaulding to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow to be treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 55-year-old Huntington Station resident Thuan Van Hoang, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
