Car Catches Fire After Crashing Into Utility Pole In Dix Hills

The driver was hospitalized on Sunday morning.

A driver was hospitalized after their vehicle struck a utility pole and burst into flames in Dix Hills on Sunday morning.

According to fire officials, the single-vehicle crash occurred on the North Service Road, west of Commack Road, at 2:20 a.m.

Dix Hills firefighters and EMTs responded to the scene to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

The flames were extinguished and the driver was taken to Huntington Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Units were under the command on Third Assistant Chief Brett Tepe and Captain Scott DiPino, according to PIO Steve Silverman.
