Dix Hills Fire Department To Hold Open House: Info
The free event will feature tours of the firehouse, ambulances and fire trucks, as well as live demonstrations.

DIX HILLS, NY — The annual Dix Hills Fire Department Fire Prevention Open House is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. The free event will be held at the DHFD Training Facility, at 590 Deer Park Ave.
The event will feature tours of the firehouse, ambulances and fire trucks, as well as live firefighter and rescue cut-and-burn demonstrations, including deployment of the “jaws of life” to pry open a wrecked car. There will also be demonstrations of how firefighters handle building/home fires.
Firefighters will teach safety measures like stop, drop and roll, and first aid and EMT emergency treatment tips.

Attendees will also learn about DHFD safety and assistance programs including the Child Safety Car Seat program and free Community CPR courses.
Kids can also trick or treat in or out of costume and receive candy and other giveaways. The fire department will give free blood pressure checks to everyone.

The open house will also help people recognize the importance of these essential front-line services and appreciate the need for community volunteers to join the ranks.
