Driver Escapes SUV Blaze in Melville

The incident occurred Saturday afternoon, police say.

The driver of an SUV that burst into flames in Melville Saturday managed to escape unharmed, authorities said.

Melville Fire Department volunteers responded to the fully involved fire in a Ford Bronco on Old Country Road near Wintergreen Drive at about 4 p.m. The fire was triggered by an electrical short that caused the SUV to stall and burst into flames, officials said.
