Elderly Woman Hospitalized After Car Crash Fire On LI: Police
An elderly woman was seriously injured in a car crash that caused her Lexus to burst into flames on Long Island, Suffolk County police say.
DIX HILLS, NY — An elderly woman was seriously injured in a car crash on Long Island Tuesday morning, according to Suffolk County police.
Police said a 75-year-old Kings Park woman was driving a 2021 Lexus SUV southbound on Half Hollow Road when the vehicle collided with a 2022 Lexus at the intersection of the South Service Road around 11:49 a.m.
The woman’s Lexus caught fire, and the Dix Hills Fire Department responded to the scene, police said.

The woman, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries, police said.
The second driver, Yongming Zhu, 70, of Wheatley Heights, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
