Driver Gets Trapped In Crash With Tractor-Trailer In Melville

The driver was hospitalized on Friday morning, fire officials say.

A driver was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer in Melville on Friday morning.

According to fire officials, the car and tractor-trailer collided, trapping the driver of the car, at the intersection of Route 110 and Spagnoli Road at 1:20 a.m.

The Melville Fire Department responded to the scene and used heavy rescue extrication tools to free the driver. The Melville Rescue squad transported the driver, who was in stable condition, to Nassau University Medial Center.

An engine, two ambulances, paramedic and first responder units were dispatched, under the direction of Assistant Chief David Kaplan, according to PIO Steve Silverman.
