Driver Seriously Hurt In Melville Crash Charged With DWI: PD
The two-car crash occurred on Sunday morning.
A Huntington Station man is in serious condition after he drove drunk, ran a red light and struck another vehicle on Sunday morning in Melville, police say.
According to authorities, 32-year-old Brenten Biber was driving a 2017 Honda Civic westbound on Baylis Road when he drove through a red light and struck a 2014 Honda Accord traveling southbound on Broadhollow Road at 6:15 a.m.
Melville Firefighters responded to the crash and used heavy rescue "Jaws of Life" tools to remove one of the drivers involved who was pinned in the wrecked car.

Biber suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Nassau University Medical Center by the Melville Fire Department. The driver of the Accord, 61-year-old East Northport resident Jay Kim, was taken to Huntington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Biber was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and will be arraigned on a later date.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
About 25 Melville firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene with three ambulances, heavy rescue truck, an engine, first responder, paramedic and fire police units. Units were under the direction of Chief Chris Nolan and First Assistant Chief David Kaplan, according to PIO Steve Silverman.
