Firefighters Extinguish Dix Hills House Fire

The blaze broke out on Friday evening.

Firefighters extinguished a house fire that broke out in Dix Hills on Friday evening.

The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a Vanderbilt Parkway home to find a fire in the basement that had spread into an exterior wall at 6:10 p.m. Crews aggressively attacked the blaze and got it under control within five minutes.

Officials say the fire was found to be accidental. There were no injuries reported.

Thirty firefighters and rescue personnel were at the scene with four engines, two ambulances and a paramedic unit. Units were under the direction of Assistant Chiefs Alan Berkowitz and Joe Williamson. Huntington Manor firefighters provided standby coverage during the alarm.

The blaze is under investigation by the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal and Suffolk Police Arson Squad, according to PIO Steve Silverman.
