Mail Truck Catches Fire In Suffolk; Postal Worker Saves Mail
A U.S. Postal Service mail truck caught fire Wednesday afternoon in Suffolk County, fire officials say. The postal worker saved the mail.

MELVILLE, NY — A U.S. Postal Service mail truck caught fire Wednesday afternoon in Melville, fire officials said Thursday.
A postal worker was delivering mail to a Spagnoli Road commercial building around 1 p.m. Wednesday when a fire ignited in the engine compartment.
When the postal worker returned, she found the truck ablaze. She quickly pulled all the mail from the truck.

Three fire engines from the Melville Fire Department and an ambulance quickly extinguished the flames under the direction of Chiefs David Kaplan and Jason Bernfeld, a spokesman for the fire department said. No one was hurt.
