Melville's Average Credit Score Is No. 6 On Long Island

Dix Hills wasn't far behind.

If the average credit score of Melville and Dix Hills residents were a grade, it would be an A.

According to a WalletHub analysis, Melville and Dix Hills were both in the 92 percentile nationwide of the 2,572 communities surveyed.

Melville has an average credit score of 756, the No. 6 highest credit score on Long Island. Dix Hills wasn't far behind with a 755 average credit score, tying with Wantagh as the No. 8 highest credit score on Long Island.

Garden City and Plainview tied as the No. 25 highest credit score in the nation and No. 1 on Long Island.

The Villages, FL ranked as No. 1 in the United States with an average 807 credit score. Pittsford in Monroe County had the highest credit score average in New York with a No. 10 national ranking of 773.

In order to identify the cities with the highest and lowest credit scores, WalletHub's analysts compared the average credit scores of residents in each of 2,572 U.S. "cities" as of October 2017, based on TransUnion data.
