Pedestrian Seriously Hurt After Being Struck On Route 110
The man was struck by a vehicle on Monday evening.

A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by an SUV in Melville on Monday evening, police say.
According to authorities, the man was walking alongside Route 110, about 150 feet north of Amityville Road, when he appeared to step into the roadway and was struck by a northbound 2004 Honda CRV at 5:15 p.m.
The man was airlifted to Stony Brook University to be treated for serious injuries. Authorities have not yet identified the man.

The driver of the Honda, 87-year-old Melville resident Constance Schwartz, remained at the scene and faces no charges.
The Honda was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
