Four Half Hollow Hills students are helping usher in the New Year, performing Tuesday at an event unveiling two numbers for the giant Times Square celebration.
Simon Lee on violin, Jake Zipkin on violin, Roger Cheng on viola, and John Ahn on cello performed classical works including Mozart’s Quartet #157 and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.
The seven-foot-tall numbers will remain on display at the Times Square Museum & Visitor Center, on 7th Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets, until Dec. 26. They will be then be installed atop One Times Square to complete the “2-0-1-4” sign that lights up at midnight. For more information, visit: www.TimesSquareNYC.org
Also part of Tuesday's ceremony was an 11-foot, 9-inch tall champagne bottle provided by Moët & Chandon Champagnes, the official champagne of Times Square 2014. On display were the advanced, energy-efficient hue BR30 LED bulbs that organizers said will, for the first time, produce colors and patterns that can be changed and controlled.
