State Police Still Seek Answers In Unsolved Dix Hills Homicide
The decomposed body of the unidentified man was found off the Northern State Parkway in 2000.

New York State Police are still investigating the homicide of an unknown man whose body was found in Dix Hills 18 years ago.
According to authorities, a decomposed body was found in a black plastic garbage bag off the Northern State Parkway, east of Wolf Hill Road, on March 9, 2000. It was determined the man was shot with a large caliber pistol in the face and torso before being shoved into the bag. His estimated death is between January and March 2000, police say.
The man was never identified and the case remains an open homicide. State Police released a computerized facial reconstruction of the man in 2016.

Police described the man as white or light-skinned Hispanic, 35-45 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 140 pounds, and with short, dark hair. He was wearing a blue jeans, a navy blue bathing suit, an olive-colored Levi's short sleeve shirt, and an olive-colored t-shirt that has a multi-colored picture and a New Jersey emblem (pictured above) as a design. He has no visible tattoos or scars.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest of the person or persons responsible for the crime. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the New York State Police at (631) 756-3300. Please refer to SJS# 3023503.
