Students Boost Holiday With Food for Needy
Interact Club at HHH West pack up turkeys to help feed others.
Students at Half Hollow Hills West packed up enough turkeys Tuesday to feed about 125 local families for Thanksgiving.
About 40 members of the Interact Club worked on the project, said club adviser Mike Stein. "Kids today get a bad rap but these kids are here on their own time" helping others in need.
Students helped raise funds for the project through bake sales and selling coupon books that benefit local business.
The "students learn the motto, 'service over self'," said Rotary Club president Brian Maher, whose organization works with the club. "This is a lesson they'll take with them."
