Susan Berland To Run For State Senate Against Mario Mattera: Report

DIX HILLS, NY — Susan Berland, a former Suffolk County legislator and Huntington town board member, is set to run for the New York state Senate 2nd District against state Sen. Mario Mattera (R — St. James), Huntington Now reported.

Berland, a Democrat, served as majority leader of the Suffolk County Legislature before her 2021 election defeat to Manny Esteban.

The 2nd Senate District includes Centereach, Commack, Coram, Deer Park, Dix Hills, East Northport, East Setauket, Farmingville, Fort Salonga, Greenlawn, Hauppauge, Huntington, Huntington Station, Kings Park, Lake Grove, Lake Ronkonkoma, Medford, Melville, Nesconset, Northport, Port Jefferson, Port Jefferson Station, Ronkonkoma, Selden, Setauket, South Setauket, Smithtown, St. James and Stony Brook.
