Trapped Driver Rescued In Melville Crash That Hurt 2

The crash occurred on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters rescued a trapped driver following a two-vehicle crash that hurt two people on Wednesday morning in Melville, fire officials say.

The crash involving a Jeep and a car occurred on Old Country Road near Mount Misery Road at 8:24 a.m. The Melville Fire Department responded to the scene to rescue a person trapped using the "Jaws of Life" rescue tools.

Both drivers were taken to Nassau University Medical Center by the Melville Fire Department Rescue Squad to be treated for their injuries.

A heavy rescue truck, engine, ambulance, first responder, paramedic and fire police responded to the scene. Units were under the direction of Chief Chirs Nolan, according to PIO Steve Silverman.
