EAST HARLEM, NY — Three low-rise buildings that have stood for a century at the edge of Mount Sinai Hospital's campus will now be torn down, according to plans filed with the city.

The hospital filed plans in late April to demolish the three buildings at 22-26 East 103rd St., facing Madison Avenue.

The five-story brick tenements had been built around 1920, containing a combined 26 apartments, and, at one point, a row of shops along Madison Avenue — though they have appeared closed in recent years.

The buildings occupy the northeast corner of a block otherwise dominated by medical-related facilities, including the New York Academy of Medicine building and the Mount Sinai Center for Advanced Medicine.

Mount Sinai did not respond to questions about what it plans to build on the site, and whether any tenants of the buildings had to be relocated.
