'Affordable' Harlem Apartments Require $66K Salary
The pair of one-bedroom Central Harlem apartments will be rented out for under $2,000 per month.
HARLEM, NY — A lottery for two so-called affordable apartments in Harlem was launched this week, but applicants must make more than the average New Yorker to even be eligible.
The two one-bedroom apartments at 3 West 128th St. are open to those making at least $66,858 for a single person. Applicants can make up to 130 percent of the area median income, or $103,480 for one person.
Monthly rent for the apartments will be $1,950.

Tenants in the newly constructed building will have access to in-unit dishwashers, a gymnasium and rooftop terrace, an elevator and a shared laundry room, according to the listing on Housing Connect.
The developer is slated to receive tax breaks for the building, which is just west of Fifth Avenue.
