Another New Building Coming To Frederick Douglass Boulevard

Another eight-story building may be built on Harlem's Frederick Douglass Boulevard, the second such filing on the avenue this month.

HARLEM, NY — Continuing the rapid buildup of Harlem, permits were filed with the city this week to construct a new, eight-story building on a vacant lot on Frederick Douglass Boulevard.

A developer filed plans Tuesday for the mixed-use building at 2805 Frederick Douglass Blvd., on the corner of 149th Street, city records show.

The 72-foot-tall building would include 11 apartments, 1,276 square feet of commercial space and another 1,770 square feet for a "community facility."

It's the second time this month that developers have announced plans for a new building along the avenue. On Oct. 8, another developer filed permits for a different eight-story structure on Frederick Douglass at West 136th Street, the former site of a church.

Sion Associates, a Long Island-based architectural firm, is the applicant of record.

The Department of Buildings has not yet reviewed the filings, city records show.
