Apartment Building Coming To Long-Empty Harlem Lot, Plans Show
Another Harlem lot that has sat empty for years will soon be developed into housing, as the neighborhood's hot real estate market continues.

HARLEM, NY — Another Harlem lot that has sat empty for years will soon be redeveloped with an apartment building, according to newly filed plans.
Developers NNRC Properties filed plans last week for the new building at 2902 Frederick Douglass Blvd.: a site between West 153rd and 154th streets that has been vacant since at least 2009, according to Google Maps images.
The new seven-story building will stand 70 feet tall and contain 23 apartments, with an average size of about 668 square feet each. The ground floor will include a 2,000-square-foot retail space and a 1,000-square-foot community facility.

NNRC, the developer, is also trying to build an enormous 14-story apartment building in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, which has run into some community opposition.
The listed architect on the Harlem building is BDF Designs, a firm responsible for a number of other apartment buildings around Brooklyn.

Harlem's hot real estate market has led other long-vacant lots to see new life in recent months, like the corner site on Frederick Douglass Boulevard and West 132nd Street or the community garden space on West 134th Street near Amsterdam Avenue.
