Child Shot In East Harlem, Police Say

The 12-year-old boy was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and released from the hospital.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A child was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after being shot on an East Harlem street, police said.

A 12-year-old boy was shot in the leg on East 115th Street and Third Avenue around 9 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said. The spokesman could not confirm whether the child was the intended target of the shooting or a bystander.

EMS rushed the boy to an area hospital for surgery and has been released, an NYPD spokesman said.
