Deadline Nears For Harlem Affordable Senior Housing
Tuesday is the last day to apply to live in a new low-income senior housing block in Harlem.

HARLEM, NY — Tuesday is the last day for residents to apply to live in a new, low-income senior housing development currently being built on West 118th Street in Harlem.
The development, called Victory Plaza, includes 94 apartments for low-income seniors, available through the city's Housing Connect lottery. The deadline to apply online is 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25.
To be eligible, at least one member of an applicant's household must be 62 or older, according to the listing. For the building's 93 studio apartments, applicants must have a household income at or below $39,800 for one person, or a combined $45,500 for two people. Tenants will pay 30 percent of their income as rent, and must also qualify for a Section 8 voucher.

The building also has a single one-bedroom unit, available for a household of up to three people with a combined income of $51,200.
Half of the units will be set aside for Manhattan residents, while five percent will be reserved for people with mobility issues, and 2 percent for those with vision or hearing impairments.

Victory Plaza will contain a total of 136 units, and will include card-operated laundry, a community room, and an outdoor recreation area, according to its website. Located at 11 West 118th St., it about two blocks from the 116th Street 2-3 subway station.
