HARLEM, NY — Developers have filed plans to build a new supportive housing facility in Central Harlem, according to city Department of Buildings records.

Azimuth Development will construct a nine-story building at 15 W. 118th St., located between Lenox and Fifth avenues, according to the building plans. The development will rise 85-feet-tall and contain 51 units of supportive housing, building plans reveal.

The building will also include space for a community facility on its first floor as well as amenities such as laundry rooms, exercise rooms and offices for the supportive housing operation, according to building plans.

The West 118th Street property was owned by the supportive housing organization Women In Need until it was sold in 2018 to an entity known as West 118 Acquisition LLC for just more than $1.5 million. Azimuth and Women In Need have previously partnered on supportive housing complexes, but the exact arrangement for this new building is unclear.

Kossar + Garry Architects is listed in building plans as the firm designing the new development.
