East Harlem Burglar Hits 3 Buildings, Looting Pricey Laptops: Police

A man has stolen thousands of dollars' worth of electronics in a string of East Harlem burglaries in recent weeks, according to police.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A man has stolen more than $22,000 worth of electronics in a string of East Harlem burglaries that began last month, according to police.

The spree began somewhere between 10 p.m. on March 10 and 7 a.m. the following morning, when the unidentified suspect got inside the basement of an apartment building at 206 East 124th St. — steps away from the NYPD's Service Area 5 precinct house.

Once inside, the man took a MacBook Pro worth $1,500 and a $1,000 Asus laptop that belonged to a 44-year-old man, according to police.

Days later, on March 13 around 2:30 p.m., the same suspect managed to get inside the basement of a commercial building at 1647 Park Ave. There, he took a Sony C-800G studio microphone worth $14,000, a $4,000 Mac Pro computer, two computor monitors worth a conbined $450, and a $500 microphone stand, police said.

Finally, around 9:20 p.m. on March 21, the same man kicked in the door to an unspecified residential building, entered the basement, and took a series of DeWalt power tools ‚ two drills, three batteries, two nail guns and a saw — valued at $1,437 combined.

All told, the man's haul was worth about $22,887, according to police. On Thursday, the NYPD released surveillance images showing the man inside the lobby of one of the buildings, and asked the public for help identifying him.
