Fire In Harlem Apartment Building Injures 6 People: FDNY

Five civilians were hurt and a firefighter was hospitalized in an early-morning fire in a Hamilton Heights apartment building on Friday.

HARLEM, NY — An early-morning fire in a Harlem apartment building injured five civilians and sent a firefighter to the hospital, according to the FDNY.

Nearly 80 firefighters responded to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control in about 40 minutes, the FDNY said.

The five civilians were all treated at the scene and declined to be hospitalized, while one injured firefighter was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, the FDNY said.

Authorities have not said what may have caused the fire.
