HAMILTON HEIGHTS, NY — Three people were hurt when a fire broke out Friday afternoon in a bodega in the Hamilton Heights section of Harlem, an FDNY spokesman said.

Firefighters responded to 1844 Amsterdam Ave., located on the corner of West 151st Street, shortly before 3:30 for reports of a fire. The blaze was contained quickly, but the fire generated a thick cloud of smoke that shot out into the street, according to fire officials.

The three people who were hurt suffered minor injuries and did not need transportation to a hospital, an FDNY spokesman said.
