One Arrested After Harlem School Lockdown: Police

Police responded to reports of a student with a gun at the A. Philip Randolph Camps High School.

HARLEM, NY — One person was arrested Thursday after reports of a student with a gun prompted a lockdown at a Harlem high school, police said.

The NYPD declared the school safe just before 2 p.m. after finding a student with an imitatiom firearm, police said.

Officers responded to the A. Philip Randolph Campus High School on West 135th Street between Convent and St. Nicholas avenues, after a female student reported seeing a male student with a gun at the school, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

There was no active shooter at the school and nobody was injured, police said.

The City College of New York campus, which is located next to the high school, was also placed on lockdown as police operated at the scene. Students were told to stay inside and avoid windows until the police resolved their investigation, according to an alert sent by college officials.
