Teens Sexually Assaulted Near Columbia Dorm, Police Seek Other Victims

A man sexually assaulted two 19-year-old women near a Columbia University dorm last week, and police fear there may be other victims.

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, NY — Two young women were assaulted near Columbia University last week and, after arresting a suspect, police believe their could more victims, according to the NYPD.

Miguel Mella, 32, was arrested Saturday for attacking two 19-year-old women near a Columbia student dorm on Thursday about 3 a.m., police said.

The attack occurred near Claremont Avenue and West 119th Street, according to an AM New York report, but police would not confirm this information to Patch.

Mella, of Washington Heights, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Saturday and charged with four counts of sex abuse and two counts of forcible touching.

Police said Mella touched the women's buttocks and lower back.

There may have been other victims, according to the NYPD.
