Man Attacks Woman In Front Of E Harlem Building, Police Say

A 26-year-old woman was entering her home when she was grabbed from behind and dragged on the street, police said.

EAST HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is hunting a man wanted for attacking a woman as she entered her East Harlem building, police said.

A 26-year-old woman was entering hear East 101st Street and First Avenue home just before 2:3- a.m. on Sept. 22 when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man, police said. The man covered the woman's mouth and attempted to drag her away from the building when a bystander heard the commotion, forcing the attacker to flee, police said.

The suspect is wanted for attempted rape, police said. Police described the attacker as a man with a medium build who was last seen wearing camouflage pants, a black top and black shoes. The NYPD released a photo of the suspect taken by a security camera at the victim's building entrance.

The woman who was attacked refused medical attention offered by EMS, police said.
