Man Shoots Pizza Worker During Harlem Robbery, Police Say

The shooter fled the pizzeria with no money and escaped into a nearby public housing building to avoid arrest.

HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who critically injured an employee at a West Harlem pizzeria during an attempted robbery of the business, police said.

The robber entered Tom's Delicious Pizza on Broadway near West 125th Street on Saturday and flashed a gun at a 20-year-old worker before attempting to rob the cash register, police said. During the robbery, the employee was shot in the leg, police said.

EMS rushed the pizzeria employee to St. Luke's Hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

The robber fled the store without any cash and escaped into a building in the New York City Housing Authority Grant Houses development across the street from the pizzeria, police said. Police released a photo of the suspect (seen above), who was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, black jacket, blue jeans, and white sneakers.
