Man Shot Dead Outside East Harlem Building, Police Say
A 26-year-old man was fatally shot on East 116th Street.

EAST HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in front of an East Harlem apartment building, police said.
A 26-year-old man was shot in the chest Friday night at 20 E. 116th St, a five-story apartment building located between Madison and Fifth avenues, police said. Medics arrived on the scene after reports of an assault at the location and rushed the victim to Harlem Hospital where he was pronounced dead, said police.
The NYPD did not release the victims name pending family notification. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and the homicide remains under investigation, police said.

Shootings have risen dramatically this year in the NYPD's 25th precinct, which includes East Harlem above East 115th Street, according the precinct crime statistics. Thirteen shootings with fourteen victims have been reported in the precinct so far in 2019 compared to three shootings with four victims at this time in 2018, according to NYPD data as of Setp. 29. Friday's murder is the third reported in the 25th precinct this year, according to the crime statistics.
