Man Stabbed At Harlem Restaurant, Police Say

The victim had to have the knife surgically removed from his body.

HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man wanted for a stabbing that occurred in a Harlem restaurant, police said.

A 30-year-old man was dining Friday afternoon at Pee Dee Steak House on West 125th Street between Fifth and Lenox avenues when an unknown man approached him and asked for money, police said. When the man declined to give any money, the beggar stabbed him in the left shoulder with a steak knife, police said.

The victim was transported to Harlem Hospital, where he had to get surgery to remove the knife from his body, police said. The man is in stable condition and expected to survive, police said.

The suspect fled the restaurant after the stabbing and has not been arrested, police said. The suspect is described as a man in his 30s standing about 5-foot-7 and weighing 195 pounds with brown eyes, a close cut haircut and a burgundy mark on his forehead, police said. He was wearing a blue jacket, yellow scarf, blue jeans and brown boots at the time of the stabbing, police said.
